Training

Bodyslammers featured on Lima television news, July 1995

During his college years, CC packed bulk and muscle onto his 5-8 frame. High metabolism meant that he had to work extra hard in the weight room. This picture is from a set taken that were sent to Lima along with his application for training.

Because of his high metabolism and limited food funds, the demands of daily ring work quickly depleted Sonic's bulk. Fortunately, Lima was halfway between family in eastern Kentucky and Michigan...so Sonic was able to eat some free home-cooked meals most weekends during training. But even with that, he was as light as he had been since high school after two months of training in Lima.

With the exception of lone female trainee Jess, each Bodyslammers student had a roommate. For CC Sonic, that roommate was a French-Canadian named Ted. He was extremely agile and had some martial arts training. But his favorite hobby was just looking fine.

Their ring careers were relatively short. However, they played a huge part in the development of CC Sonic, Dirk Extreme, and Bionic J, among others. Those individuals impacted wrestling at all levels in the years to come. So Jeff Welch, Shawn Glass, and Teddy Ted are recognized here for their contributions, as well as their aggregate awesomeness.

These guys...I mean, come on...what's not to love? Thanks to social media, we're all still connected to this very day.
