$500 Battle Royal

Sonic takes on Psycho, the Hellion, the Cuban Assassins, and others in a match featured on the World Professional Wrestling program that aired on television in Logan, West Virginia in 1996.

There was a name...

One of Sonic's rivals in southern West Virginia was "Wild Thing" Jamie Howard, who later became known to the WWE Universe as Jamie Noble. The battles between CC and Jamie were legendary enough to inspire future wrestlers from the area, including Chance Prophet. The matches were apparently so compelling that the camera operators watched them rather than record them on VHS. Thankfully, the Doctor provides evidence of their existence in his commentary in this compilation of "CC Sonic" references from the World Professional Wrestling program that aired on television in Logan, West Virginia in 1996.

CC Sonic on offense!

One minute of nonstop Sonic Fury.

This photo became the most published image of CC Sonic. It was the picture on the cover of the cassettes that contained his ring entry music. It was also the main image on the first CC Sonic homepage on a Geocities website.

The surviving VHS footage might not reflect it, but CC Sonic wore his neon green trunks about as often as he wore the blue trunks. This was especially true early on, before he could afford a pair of boots. He used a $20 pair of white wrestling shoes with bright green trim.

One of the guys in the WPW locker room (either Daredevil or Excalibur) once told CC these trunks looked like "green underwear." Sonic kept wearing them, but he adopted that as the informal name for the trunks.
